"Known for her fiery spirit, competitiveness, huge heart and loyalty — Rexanna impacted countless lives."

Rexanna Hawkins was 49 years old when she died of lung cancer on June 21, 2006. A non-smoker, she received her diagnosis just two months before her passing. Her final wish was to give back.

From that wish, Rexanna's Foundation for Fighting Lung Cancer was born — a beacon of hope dedicated to increasing survival rates through research funding, education, and awareness.

Our mission stands on three pillars: raising funds for lung cancer research, increasing awareness of the disease, and promoting early detection and targeted treatment.

Through the Years

To date, Rexanna's Foundation has given over $1 million dollars to targeted research projects within the Thoracic Department of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Funding from Rexanna’s Foundation has enabled the thoracic team to generate over $20M in additional grant funding. . Every seed grant has delivered a 20× return in larger research funding.
